Inspired by the wines of the DO Tarragona appellation, made in the style of the “great” fortified drinks of Port, Sherry, and Sauternes. Padro wanted to make vermouth using a wine in the style of a Tarragona Clàssic, aged in large oak vats, and blended in the final coupage with a small amount of solera wine and their own special touch of vermouth herbs. Aromas are intense, sweet and striking. Dried figs, roasted hazelnuts and green walnuts in particular. Very smooth with flavors of licorice, medicinal herbs, and the slight bitter tang of molasses.

Tasting Notes | Nose: Intense and striking. Powerful aromas from the prolonged ageing: dried figs, roasted hazelnuts and green walnuts Mouth: Warm and rich at the beginning, giving way to liquorice and medicinal herbs, encased in sweet notes, and a bitter tang. |
Review | Dark brown color. Complex aromas and flavors of fennel, leather, cacao nibs, cola, fig, espresso beans, dried cherry, candied pecan, and nougat with a round, vibrant, moderately sweet medium body and an effortless, complex, long finish with touches of honey on tangerines, quinine, dried apple, cassia, nutmeg, lavender, and gentian finish. A poignant and complex, old-world vermouth for stellar manhattans; thoroughly enjoyable on rocks and in spritzes. |
